Willis (Lee) Stetson is the former Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania. He is widely credited with radically transforming Penn through his work as Admissions Dean in changing the composition of Penn's undergraduate student body as the university rose in stature over Stetson's 29 years at the University. In September 2007, Stetson abruptly left the University of Pennsylvania a year ahead of his scheduled retirement date under mysterious circumstances, and without any of the normal fanfare and celebrations that would accompany the departure of a top University administrator after a long and successful career.

Jesus as the creator
 +
 +
Dear Wikipedia Contribuitors,
 +
 +
thank you all for your great efforts. I'm teaching a class about the different creation ideas, myths, theories, etc. I am not a Jehovah's witness but when I was a boy my family and I spent a season studying with them and I think something in this article is wrong. Can I bring your attention to the next paragraph:
 +
 +
"Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus was God's only direct creation,[141] that everything else was created by means of Christ, and that the initial unassisted act of creation uniquely identifies Jesus as God's "only-begotten Son".[142][143]"
 +
 +
Particularly the part reading "everything else was created by means of Christ" is not correct. The supporting references say nothing about that. On the other hand, there are several articles mentioning that the Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jehovah was the creator and not Christ. Here some examples:
 +
 +
"If God was the Word, as John 1:1 is literally translated, then it is no problem for the Word to have created all things. As God, He created. How could the Word be with God and God be the Word at the same time? The doctrine of the Trinity (One God, three Persons) is the solution here. The Word was with God (the Father) and God (the Son) was the Word. This understanding, consistent with the rest of Scripture, eliminates any contradiction of multiple gods. There is only one God, revealed in a plurality of Persons. The Jehovah's Witnesses do not have a solution to that alleged contradiction.
 +
 +
The primary reason Jehovah's Witnesses do not want John 1:1 translated accurately is due to influences outside the Bible. As the theological descendents of their founder Charles Russell, they arrive at the Bible with the preconceived notion that Jesus the Christ is not God. Therefore, when a passage that clearly contradicts their theology comes up, there are two options: change their belief to coincide with what the Bible teaches or change God's Word to fit with their current theology. Sadly, they have opted to exalt their theology above Jehovah's Word. So, who is really the Jehovah's Witnesses' final authority? It is no longer a perfect God and His Word but fallible, sinful men and their ideas about God." (http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/aid/v2/n1/jesus-the-creator)
 +
 +
"Often times a Jehovah's Witness will claim that Jesus is not the Creator of all things by quoting from their translation of the Bible [the New World Translation] in Colossians 1:16." (http://www.eadshome.com/John1NWT.htm)
 +
 +
In fact, I think that the supporting sources have been misinterpreted. One of them reads:
 +
"Jesus, in his prehuman existence, was "the first-born of all creation." (Colossians 1:15, NJB) He was "the beginning of God's creation." (Revelation 3:14, RS, Catholic edition). "Beginning" [Greek, ar·khe'] cannot rightly be interpreted to mean that Jesus was the 'beginner' of God's creation." (http://www.watchtower.org/e/ti/article_05.htm)
 +
 +
So, it reads that Jesus is not the 'beginner' of the creation, it is, he is not the creator.
 +
 +
Can you, please, share your opinions? I think the article must be corrected but it'd be better if we get to an agreement.George Rodney Maruri Game (talk) 15:43, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

The average depth of the troposphere is approximately 17 km in the middle latitudes. It is deeper in the tropical regions, up to 20 km, and shallower near the poles, at 7 km in summer, and indistinct in winter. The lowest part of the troposphere, where friction with the Earth's surface influences air flow, is the planetary boundary layer. This layer is typically a few hundred meters to 2 km deep depending on the landform and time of day. The border between the troposphere and stratosphere, called the tropopause, is a temperature inversion.

Nature of Mysticism
Mysticism is an art or a practice of the spiritual person, and for the Christian mystic, it is the spiritual practice in relation to and of God. The attributes and means by which Christian mysticism is studied and practiced are varied. Ranging from ecstatic visions of the soul's mystical union with God to simple prayerful contemplation of Holy Scripture (i.e., Lectio Divina), this article addresses the practice of the inner, spiritual activity which is broadly known within the Christian tradition.

In the direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar (1994), the Genie returns to Agrabah, deciding that the world is not all that great without Aladdin and Jasmine around him and that he can not live without them. He is later confronted by the newly-free Jafar in the Palace gardens and imprisoned alongside Abu. After being freed by a morally-confused Iago, the Genie informs Aladdin that the only way to dispose of Jafar permanently is to destroy his lamp before Jafar himself is wished free. The Genie later attempts to discreetly grab Jafar's lamp from Abis Mal, but ultimately fails, and assists Aladdin in the final battle against Jafar by shapeshifting into Aladdin in an attempt to distract Jafar while Aladdin grabs his lamp, but this fails as well. However, thankfully the reformed Iago manages to kick Jafar's lamp into lava, killing Jafar.

The Genie has a major supporting role in the Aladdin television series, although his contributions are sometimes limited; as an apparent side-effect of being freed from the lamp, his powers have been downgraded from his original 'phenomenal cosmic powers' to 'semi-phenomenal, nearly-cosmic powers', with the result that the once-omnipotent Genie is now incapable of undoing some of the spells he is confronted with and lacks some degree of his old intellect. However, in Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Genie appears to be just as powerful as he was in the first film, as he has no problem with anything he tries. Genie cameos in the Hercules: The Animated Series crossover episode "Hercules and the Arabian Night", in which he punches Pain and Panic back to the Underworld when they are tricked into looking into the lamp by Aladdin. Genie also is a guest in Disney's House of Mouse, and acts as host in the Disney TH!NK Fast video game. Genie is based on celibate Ghanaian Supercomputer, Eugene 'Genie' Ansare, who also used to follow a charming arab around.

The Genie appears in most of the installments of the Kingdom Hearts series of video games. Genie's role in the first game is mostly the same as in the film, as his lamp is found by Aladdin. The general difference is that all of Aladdin's wishes are wasted to get him out of trouble: the first wish was spent on getting rid of Heartless attacking and the second one is to rescue Jasmine from Jafar. Eventually, Iago steals Genie's lamp, forcing Genie to show Jafar the keyhole of Agrabah and assist him in fighting Sora and his friends. After Jafar is defeated, Aladdin wishes Genie free from his lamp. He then becomes a summon for Sora. Genie has much less screen time and much less to do with the plot in Kingdom Hearts II. Like in The Return of Jafar, he goes off to see the world along with Carpet. He misses most of the action, but arrives near the end of Sora's first visit and disturbs Pete when he is about to free Jafar from his lamp. Also, Genie once again becomes a summon partner for Sora, but his newest feature is copying Sora's Drive forms and wielding his own copy of the Keyblade. Genie also appears briefly in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, interacting with Xion and Roxas as they make their way back to Agrabah.

The bodyshell is 75 ft long, almost 10 ft longer than the Mark 2, of full monocoque construction, and has gained a reputation within the railway industry for its exceptional strength and crashworthiness. Another important advance over its predecessor was the adoption of secondary air suspension between the body and the bogies giving the passengers an exceptionally smooth ride. The bogies, classified BT10, were designed specifically for the Mark 3 and have coil spring primary suspension with hydraulic dampers enabling a maximum speed of 125 mph — the Mark 2 is limited to 100 mph. Disc brakes in place of the Mark 2's clasp brakes completed the engineering package - enabling efficient deceleration from 125 mph and almost silent brake operation.

Ancillaries such as electrical and air conditioning systems were grouped together in discrete modules housed behind an aerodynamic skirting between the bogies; on the Mark 2 these were mounted above and below the passenger seating area. The lighting and air conditioning fittings were for the first time integrated into the ceiling panels. Other new features (first seen on the Mark 2F) were the pneumatically operated automatic gangway doors which were triggered by pressure pads under the floor, and a speed operated central door locking system for the manually operated slam-doors.

The main difference between the HST vehicles and the loco-hauled Mark 3A relate to electrical supply arrangements.
The main difference between the HST vehicles and the loco-hauled Mark 3A relate to electrical supply arrangements.
HST MK3s take an industrial voltage/frequency 3-phase supply directly from an auxiliary alternator in the power car to supply on board equipment such as air conditioning. The loco hauled vehicles take a standard single phase 1000 V AC or DC train heat supply from the locomotive and convert it through motor alternator units located under the floor. These convert the train supply to 3-phase 415/240 V 50 Hz AC to power air conditioning and other ancillaries. This difference makes the two types non-interconnectable in service conditions. The other main difference is the lack of buffers on HST coaches.

The later Mark 3B build provided additional 1st Class loco hauled vehicles for the West Coast Main Line. These are virtually the same as earlier Mark 3As, but have an improved motor alternator unit with compound wound motor and seating derived from the Advanced Passenger Train (APT)

The City of Duluth was named after Daniel Greysolon Du Luth(1636-1710), a French captain and explorer. He negotiated and signed peace between the Saulters and the Sioux nation. Duluth's forefather, cotton merchant Evan Howell, constructed a road connecting his cotton gin at the Chattahoochee River with Old Peachtree Road, creating Howell's Cross Roads. The settlement later became known as Howell's Crossing. Evan Howell was the grandfather of Atlanta Mayor Evan P. Howell and great grandfather of Atlanta Constitution publisher Clark Howell. His descendants continue to live in the area, but only Howell Ferry Rd. in Duluth bears the name.

The town was renamed Duluth in 1871 after Congress approved funding for a north-south railroad connecting it with the lesser known Duluth, Minnesota, which is in turn named for Daniel Greysolon, Sieur du Lhut. Evan Howell was on hand for the renaming ceremony. Duluth's founding fathers apparently chose the name after a satirical speech, "The Untold Delights of Duluth," given by Congressman J. Proctor Knott of Kentucky during the debate over the railroad bill.

The railroad was an enormous boost to the Duluth economy. A school house was built in 1871 on the site of what is now The Monarch School (formerly Duluth Middle School). The first Methodist church was organized in 1871, and the first Baptist congregation formed in 1886. Both churches continue today at new locations along State Route 120. The Bank of Duluth was charted in 1904, followed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank in 1911. Neither survived the Depression, but the Bank of Duluth was re-chartered in 1945 at its original location.
